During the 1990s, I read with horrified fascination the newspaper accounts of the protracted break-up of Yugoslavia and the accompanying carnage which enveloped the region.  As soon as trains began running through the region again, my partner and I made several trips around and through Slovenia and Croatia, observing how travel throughout the area was becoming more and more practical.

I began writing theis collection of poems on these trips, also during a holioday in southern France, and put them into their current form back hom,e in London.  The structure of the current collection evokes our journeys and dreams a little about possible future ones.  I hope to add further pieces to this collection in the future.
